March 8, the Women’s March was held in Kyiv. According to the media and police, several thousand participants took part in the event. They supported the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, which criminalizes violence against women. The event’s organizers also opposed sexism and discrimination against women.

The march also included representatives of embassies, various civic non-governmental and international organizations. In particular, in the column Amnesty International Ukraine was a student of the Faculty of Social and Psychological Education, student coordinator of the gender educational center Kompaniets Mykola.

The participants of the march shouted “women’s rights – human rights”, “human rights – above all”, “rebellion, love, don’t give away”, etc.

“I believe that the presence of a person’s sexual characteristics only partially correlates her ability, which I constantly see as people because of stereotypes are not in their place. Girls are forcibly forced to cook when they really want to sign up for boxing; Guys suffer from studying coding, because a singer’s career is not for boys. Trying to convey freedom from stereotypes to people is just one of the many reasons why I came to the Women’s March. A real man (a cheat man) is not afraid of gender equality, ”- said the participant of the march from Rivne, Thora Mayher.
