Student social and psychological service
The head of the service is the candidate of pedagogical sciences, senior lecturer of the department of social pedagogy and social work Gonchar Inna Grigorivna.
The student volunteers of the Uman State Pedagogical University named after Pavel Tychyna.
The purpose of the Student Social and Psychological Service is to solve social problems and improve the situation of student youth, to provide a complex of social services to students, to create favorable conditions for their self-realization and self-improvement.
Task:
- creation of favorable conditions for realization of social rights of students;
- promoting the development of students’ social activity;
- implementation of preventive measures to prevent negative phenomena in the student environment;
- promoting successful adaptation of first-year students;
- support and development of the volunteer movement in the student environment;
- implementation of programs of social formation and social support of students within national and state targeted programs.
On March 16, 2010, at the initiative of students, a Student Social and Psychological Service was created on the basis of the Faculty of Social and Psychological Education, which is an integral part of the psychological service of the education system of Ukraine. It is an association of students who, at the call of the soul, are involved in volunteering.
Student Social and Psychological Service works closely with educational institutions, the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Uman City Council, the Interregional Regional Shelter for Children, Children’s Rehabilitation Center “Petals of Trust”, Children’s Home of mixed and compensating type, the Center for Social and Urban children, families and young people, together with whom social and educational activities are organized.
More than one hundred social projects and initiatives have been implemented during the service, each of which enabled students to demonstrate professional qualities, humane attitude, love and respect, responsiveness and desire to help, to become an active participant in public life.
Financial assistance also plays a prominent role in the volunteer work of the service. Volunteer students collect things, stationery, books, sweets, which are then passed on to orphaned children, children with disabilities in a pageant. It is worth noting the actions: “Do not be indifferent – give the child a toy!”, “Share the warmth”, “Do not regret the book – give the orphanage”, “Let’s hurry up to do good!” etc.
Every year, volunteers of the student social and psychological service actively participate in the All-Ukrainian Charity Event from the Heart to Heart Foundation. During the month, students organize and hold various charity events, at which everyone can leave money in the box.
The uniqueness, creativity, originality of social and charitable events, conducted by volunteers for students, residents of the city of Uman, schoolchildren, orphans, children with disabilities, the elderly: the Theatrical action “Great Adventures of Young Indians”; social action at the Senior Citizens’ Home for International Day for the Elderly; Promote Your Mood and Chalk Messages; a holiday for the Day of Persons with Disabilities, attended by children with disabilities between the ages of 1 and 17; charitable events on the occasion of St. Nicholas; charity auction “Buy a meeting with …” to mark Valentine’s Day; social actions for International Children’s Day; Health and Festive Entertainment, etc.
Volunteer students are the co-organizers of the annual festival of social and psychological drama “Hear! Near! ”, Which is being held to attract students and students to find new ways to solve current social problems of today. In small theatrical productions, vocal and choreographic compositions, the participants raised important issues of life choices, moral stability, protection of human rights, family happiness, bulling and others.
An important area of social and pedagogical work of the service is preventive. For the prevention of negative phenomena in the youth environment volunteers constantly organize and carry out such activities as drawing contest on the asphalt “I choose a healthy lifestyle!”, Various talks, discussions, lectures on relevant topics, youth concerts “For a healthy lifestyle”, street games , theatrical acts, role-playing and creative games with young people, wall and social contests, and more.
Numerous thanks from the citizens, social institutions, local authorities once again prove the effectiveness and necessity of the Student Social and Psychological Service. In addition, such activities equip future specialists with the deep theoretical knowledge, skills and competences necessary for successful work in the future, nurture a love for their profession, passion, desire to create, seek, reflect and implement best ideas, better experiences. For volunteer students, their work is a way of life, they enthusiastically take on every new idea, try to bring it to life and get with nothing equal reward – gratitude, respect, love, self-importance.
